Between Bitch and Bechari

Sorry for using this word in the title but those are the two extremes between which the average woman is standing. She is either the eternally sacrificing, extremely pitiable woman with no self-esteem at all. Or she is a bad example, shame for the family because she stands up for herself. The society constantly puts us in these two brackets. It would worship a goddess on one hand and would kill a girl in the fetus on the other hand. Why can’t it accept the woman as just the other half of the society? Why do we have to put up with all the discrimination and suppression in the name of our culture?
